17. Sieg: Sagan lässt in Sacramento den Knoten platzen

(rsn) - 115 Tage hat es gedauert, doch pünktlich zum Auftakt seiner liebsten einwöchigen Rundfahrt hat Peter Sagan (Bora - hansgrohe) in Sacramento seine Durststrecke in Sachen Siege beendete. Der Slowakische Meister setzte sich am Ende der 143 Kilometer langen, völlig flachen Auftaktetappe im Massensprint vor dem an diesem Sonntag 30 Jahre alt gewordenen US-Amerikaner Travis McCabe (Nationalteam) durch. Dritter wurde der Heidelberger Max Walscheid (Sunweb)."Kein Zweifel: Das war heute ein schöner Sieg für mich und das gesamte Team", gab Sagan zu, dass dieser Erfolg am Ende eines durchwachsenen Frühjahrs für ihn viel bedeutete.
